Currituck County: A Community Beloved for Its Rural Character 

The community is considered the northernmost county in North Carolina.  The Currituck Sound borders the eastern side of the mainland and on the southern end, the Albemarle sound is on the western side. The mainland portion of Currituck County has maintained its' rural character and there are numerous working farms in the area.  One can find wonderful locally grown produce during the summer months at the many produce stands throughout the county.  With Currituck being the northern gateway to the Outer Banks, the weekends are busy with many vacationers traveling through the area. Currituck is home to several golf courses that are often part of an Outer Banks vacation and well loved by the locals. 

A Little Background on this Outer Banks Community

The rich and fertile land of Currituck and the plentiful seafood available from the sound, is what drew early settlers to the area, both characteristics that exist in the county today.  Currituck was also a favorite destination for wealthy northerners that had a passion for waterfowl hunting. In fact, the name "Currituck" is derived from a Native American term meaning "Land of the Wild Goose."
